Maruti Suzuki will be showcasing the production version of the project YTB, referred to as Baleno Cross for the moment, at the Auto Expo 2023. As the name suggests, the Baleno Cross will be a crossover and more rugged-looking form of the Baleno hatchback, with heavily tweaked front and rear profiles. While the test mules of the Baleno Cross have already revealed much about how the Baleno Cross will look, here is a set of digital renderings which give an idea of the actual design of the new crossover.
A user on the public forum TeamBhp has uploaded a couple of digital renderings of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross. As has already been hinted at by the test mules, the new Baleno Cross will look heavily inspired by the Grand Vitara, and these digital renderings show the same. The renderings hint at a sub-four-meter compact SUV, which looks like a scaled-down version of the Grand Vitara from both front and rear.
At the front, this digital rendering of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross gets the same split headlamp design with horizontal daytime running LEDs at the top and projector headlamps integrated within slightly squared housings below the former. Even the wide grille with chrome surroundings and grille inserts and lower bumper design with silver skid plate looks the same as those in the Grand Vitara.
The second digital rendering shows the rear three-quarter design of the Baleno Cross, which also looks heavily inspired by the Grand Vitara. The design of the boot lid is the same as that of the midsize SUV, with slim combination LED tail lamps joined by a sleek-looking LED light bar with the Suzuki logo in the middle. Here, the rear bumper gets the same vertical auxiliary lamps placed on the corners as those in the Grand Vitara.
These digital renderings also show the side profiles of the Baleno Cross, which look very different from the look hinted at by the test mules of the crossover. In actuality, the Baleno Cross will get the same design for the door panels, window panels, and 16-inch machined alloy wheels as the Baleno hatchback. However, expect to see wheel arch mouldings or side body cladding on the Baleno Cross for an added distinctiveness.
Maruti Suzuki will be displaying the Baleno Cross at the Auto Expo along with an all-electric SUV concept and the production version of the five-door Jimny.
On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be a five-door version of the globally-available three-door Suzuki Jimny, with stretched wheelbase and two additional doors to make it more practical for the Indian context. Rest assured, it will retain the upright, boxy design of the global-spec Jimny, including the retro-themed front profile with rounded lights, tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and angular body panels and doors.
