Renault and Nissan have been drifting for a while now, but the company lost interest in launching any exciting car in recent years save for the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. With this new US investment, all that could change completely, because the Indian business of Renault-Nissan is likely to get an investment of 500 US dollars. The half a billion US dollars will go towards Indianizing the CMF-B platform, after which cars like the now discontinued Renault Duster will make a big comeback.
Interim measures are being taken to satisfy the increased demand for increasingly popular SUVs. Renault and Nissan will launch a few vehicles initially, with more flexible configurations in the pipeline. The all-new Duster based on the CMF- platform will be a petrol-only SUV at the outset, but will be followed by an electric version - coming soon. Furthermore, Indianized versions of this platform can accommodate both petrol, hybrid and electric powertrains.
The 2020 Duster production is set to begin just before the 2020 Olympics, which are set to take place in Tokyo. It's expected that both Nissan and Renault will be bringing out some exciting new models next year. The X-Trail (Fortuner challenger) and the Juke are among the models that Nissan is going to introduce.

There is still no official word about when people can expect both Renault and Nissan's new crossover coupe, the Arkana, to hit India. An announcement has been expected shortly given that approval of the 500 million dollar investment is said to be in its final stages.
The Renault Duster has petrol, diesel and LPG engines, but the Renault and Nissan have chosen not to offer a diesel engine in India. Which gives the 1.3 liter turbo petrol engine with 154 Bhp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque a good chance.
With the current-generation Duster, Nissan introduced a 4WD vehicle that offers a 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox and 6-speed manual. Renault has yet to release any information about such features for the Duster sold in India.
The great thing about the new updated Duster is that it features all-new features. Some of these exciting features include a blind spot warning system, 360 degree camera, park assist technology, an infotainment touchscreen and possibly ADAS.
