Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was widely popular as Babasaheb Ambedkar, and everyone knows that he helped create the Indian Constitution with his effort. He was a well-known politician, eminent jurist, Buddhist activist, philosopher, anthropologist, historian, orator, and writer too.
Dr. Ambedkar fought for the rights of diverse peoples during his life to eradicate social evils like untouchability, and he achieved that on several occasions - even achieving positions such as India's first-ever Law Minister in Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet. Dr. Ambedkar also was honored posthumously with the prestigious Bharat Ratna award in 1990.
Early Life
Bhim Rao Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891, in Madhya Pradesh. He was the fourteenth child of his parents and faced severe discrimination in every corner of society. Ambedkar's father was a military officer. He lived at Mhow Cantonment. The world viewed the Mahar caste as untouchable, but that didn't slow down Ambedkar.
It wasn't long before Ambedkar's life was marred with discrimination and humiliation. He spent his childhood in poverty and then went on to live a tumultuous life as he studied at different schools around the country. His circumstances grew much worse when he was born into a time when only castes such as Warrior (Brahmin), Spinner (Kshatriya), or Farmer (Vaisya) were accepted into schools, leading to him being discriminated against throughout school, often for being half caste-Shudras like himself. As soon as he graduated from high school, Ambedkar was ready to take on the world of law with scholarships from Baroda ruler Sayaji Rao III.
