Nadella's path didn't seem too difficult starting. He had a long history of working for large companies and he loved their products like Microsoft had. Nadella joined Microsoft as an engineer in 1992, where he secured his first executive role as Vice President of Microsoft Central. By the start of 2000, there was no looking back for Nadella. The following year, he got promoted to vice president of the Business Solutions Division.
In 2007 Nadella became the senior Vice President of Microsoft Online Services, which not only put him in charge of Bing, but the early versions of Microsoft Office and Xbox Live. In 2011 Nadella was made president of the Server and Tools Division which oversaw the Azure cloud platform and products for companies’ data centers like Windows Server and the SQL Server database. At that time, the Server and Tools Division was earning about $16.6 billion in revenue & within two years under Nadella's leadership, revenue multiplied to $20.3 billion.
Following Steve Ballmer's resignation, Satya Nadella took over as CEO of Microsoft on February 4, 2014. The decision was made by Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, and Ballmer to appoint Nadella. He was successful in leading the company through difficult times.
Born on August 19, 1967, in Hyderabad, Manoj Nadella attended the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet. As Nadella failed his attempt to clear the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) exam, he decided to enroll at Birla Institute of Technology (BITS) in Mesra and Manipal Institute of Technology.
He chose Manipal over BITS and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1988. He later studied MS in computer science at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Nadella has done an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Nadella lives in Bellevue, Washington. Nadella and his wife own Seattle Sounders FC, a Major League Soccer team.
The couple has three children. He enjoys reading American and Indian poetry and playing cricket.
