The Ram temple in Ayodhya is being constructed at a good pace and is expected to be completed within the deadline. The Ram Mandir Trust has set a December 2023 deadline and expects the temple to open in January 2024 for devotees. Shri Ram Temple's Construction Committee informed us that construction is underway for the ground floor sanctum sanctorum and five mandaps.
According to Champat Rai, the general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Khestra, 15% of work related to the temple's sanctum sanctorum has been completed. Around 50% of the construction of the temple has been completed so far, and the rest is expected to be completed on time.
We will have grand celebrations for Ram Mandir's opening starting in December this year and continuing until Makar Sankranti on January 14, 2024, Rai told reporters. Champat Rai said that on Makar Sankranti in 2024, Ram Lalla idols would be installed in the temple's sanctum sanctorum.
The temple will be built in an area of 350 feet by 250 feet and will have 12 gates. According to the general secretary, the temple will have 166 pillars on the ground floor, 144 on the first floor, and 82 on the second floor. The gates will be made of teakwood.
Around 4.70 lakh cubic feet of carved stone will be used for the construction of Ram temple." The trust has devised a master plan for the area left after the construction of the Ram temple. Pillars and stone slabs carved at the workshop in Ayodhya will be used first. As soon as the Ram temple is built, the trust plans to construct temples for Ramayana saints.
The master plan includes the construction of temples dedicated to Rishi Valmiki, Acharya Vashisth, Rishi Vishwamitra, Agastya Rishi, Nishad Raj, Jatayu, and Mata Sabri.
Other facilities for pilgrims like Yagya Mandap, Anusthan Mandap, and a museum will also be constructed in the remaining area. Infrastructure companies Larsen and Toubro are tasked with construction work, while Tata Consulting Engineers work as management consultants for the temple project.
