Shree Siddhivinayak Temple is located at Prabhadevi, Greater Mumbai (Maharashtra) and is known as the temple of fulfillment for all desires. Shree Siddhivinayak Temple was first established in 1723. On Kartik Shuddha Chaturdashi (A.D. 1801) the shrine was renovated and rebuilt to conform with Hindu commandments. Based on what's been uncovered, it's clear that this site has been visited for 200 years now. Also, the worshipers here have an identical idol made of marble. You can find it at Banganga in South Mumbai.
It seems like both idols are a product of one artisan and likely created long ago. Considering that Banganga is 500 years old, the structure of this temple must be at least 500 years old.
Shree Siddhivinayak Ganpati temple of Prabhadevi, Mumbai is an ancient and popular place of worship. The temple was constructed around the core shrine in 1801 by an individual called Baba Hindo. Back then, the area had plenty of trees, especially coconut trees. The idol has black stone as a base and measures 2.5 ft high from its base width of 2 ft. It also holds the Trunk tilted on the right and Lotus in the upper right arm, a small hatchet (Parshu) second arm, Japmala – the chain of the holy beads-left arm, Ladoo Vati - bowl with favorite sweet delicacies to Lord Ganesh - in the lower right arm and third eye like Lord Shiva on the surface having Mooshak-mouse carrier to lord Ganesha and carved in Black stone housing having Padmasan posture (lotus) with Nar-KunjaRoop form - the elephant-headed Ganesha accompanied by Riddhi and Siddhi – Goddesses of wealth or affluence (riches). Additionally mentioned is that deity is called Mahaganpati or leader of the Ganas meaning groups or followers while they stand on serpent-like Yadnyopavit –
On Tuesdays, Sankasht Chaturthi and Aangarak Chaturthi days, which are auspicious, lakhs of devotees visit the temple to seek Darshan and fulfill their wishes.
It's hard to visit when the temple is crowded, but afternoons are a great time to go. You could also go during some of the festivals like Vinayaka Chaturthi, Sankashti Chaturthi, Maghi Shree Ganesh Jayanti, and Bhadrapad Shree Ganesh Chaturthi if you'd like to experience some different prayer services.
