The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification and initiated the online application process for the Civil Service Exam 2023 or the Indian Administration Service Exam 2023. Eligible candidates who have graduated can submit their UPSC CSE Application Form before 21 Feb 2023 at upsconline.nic.in. To complete the registration process, aspirants must first register themselves with One-Time Registration (OTR).
There will be 1105 UPSC vacancies this year, including 37 vacancies for persons with Benchmark Disability Categories, 15 vacancies for locomotor disabilities including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, muscular dystrophy, and 10 vacancies for multiple disabilities from amongst candidates.
The candidates who apply for UPSC IAS 2023 Recruitment will be called to appear for the CSE Prelims Examination scheduled for 28 May 2023 (Sunday). For those candidates who pass the prelims, the UPSC mains exam will follow, followed by an interview. For the UPSC Prelims exam 2023, 54 UPSC exam centers have been allotted.

It is only possible to fill out the UPSC 2023 Civil Services form online. The steps to apply for the UPSC CSE 2023 exam are as follows:
Go to the official website of UPSC and click on exam notification.
Register on OTR (One Time Registration) portal by Clicking the New Registration button.
After registration, log in using Email ID/ Mobile Number/ OTR ID to verify the already registered OTR application.
Go to the Latest Notification tab in the OTR application.
Apply for a desirable Examination.

No Fee for Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates.
To apply for the UPSC 2023 exam, a candidate must be a graduate of any discipline. There is no minimum percentage requirement for graduation.

For IAS, IFS, and IPS - A candidate must be a citizen of India.
For other services - A candidate must be either:
a citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 intending to permanently settle in India, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.
The UPSC IAS Exam can be attempted six times. Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories are permitted to attempt it unlimited times, while candidates belonging to the OBC categories are permitted to attempt it nine times. An attempt at the UPSC Prelims is also counted as an attempt at the UPSC CSE.
The UPSC 2023 selection process consists of three stages as stated below.
Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type) will be conducted for those who apply.
For the selection of candidates for the various services and posts, candidates who clear the UPSC CSE Pre Exam will be called for the Civil Services (Main) Examination.
The UPSC IAS interview is the last round for selection and is meant to test the applicant's critical thinking skills.
The UPSC prelims exam pattern is given below.
Subject - There will be two papers (General Studies and CSAT)
Number of Questions and Marks: GS will have 100 questions for 200 marks and CSAT will have 80 questions for 200 marks
Time - Each paper will be given 2 hours to complete the test
Negative Marking - 1/3 mark shall be deducted for every incorrect answer
Candidates who pass the USC Prelims exam will be eligible to take the Mains exam. In the UPSC Mains exam, there will be nine conventional essays on the subjects listed in subsection (B) of Section II, of which two will be qualifying in nature. A UPSC interview/personality test is the final stage of the UPSC exam. Every candidate who qualifies for the UPSC CSE mains must attend the interview, as marks will contribute to the selection process. There is no minimum qualifying mark for the Interview/Personality Test, which carries 275 marks.
UPSC will release the UPSC Civil Service 2023 Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the examination on the official website of UPSC Online, https://upsconline.nic.in. The UPSC CSE Pre-Admit Card is expected to be released in May 2023. To download the UPSC CSE Admit Card 2023, you will need to log in to the UPSC website.
After the exam, UPSC will publish the PDF containing the details of all shortlisted candidates on its official website.
A candidate's final ranking will be determined by the marks he or she scores in the Civil Services (Main) Examination and the Interview Round. As a result of their scores in the examination and their preferences for the various Services and posts, candidates will be allotted to various Services and posts.
