Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA)
The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) was established on February 1, 1978 after legislation by the state government of Gujarat. The primary goal of the AUDA's formation is sustained expansion and development outside the periphery of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
The City Development Authority's principal role is to provide supervision for the Town Planning Schemes, Development Plan and infrastructural development of Ahmedabad Urban Agglomeration. In other words, these are the key projects which the Authority will coordinate.
AUDA has 186600 hectares of land (1866 square kilometers), which includes the area initially included by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, 5 growth centers and 169 villages. The expansion covers 44950 hectares of land, which is the original AUDA area.
