Gandhidham Development Authority
The Gandhidham Development Authority was created in the year 1958 to prevent haphazard development in the upcoming township area. The area it covers is about 13 miles from the Kandla Port and covers an area of 170 sq. miles (1,08,800 Acres).
Gandhidham is located near a major port and has been planned by American town planners according to President Truman’s four-point programme. The plan offers separate zones for light and heavy industries, offices, and business, covering 5600 acres. It was approved by the Government of India under Letter 3-PII(4)/51 dated
20/ 07/1951.
