During the fortnight, over a million tourists, including thousands of foreigners, visit the Mela, a prominent destination on the international tourist calendar. The Surajkund Mela is unique because it showcases the richness and diversity of Indian handicrafts, handlooms, and cultural fabric.
The Mela is organized by the Surajkund Mela Authority & Haryana Tourism in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Tourism, Textiles, Culture, and External Affairs. At least 20 countries and all states of India will take part in the Mela.
Numerous esteemed national and international folk artists and groups offer exciting performances at the two Chaupals - open-air theatres - within the Mela grounds. At night there is an exciting evening program presented at the main Chaupal. Furthermore, the Mela safeguards heritage crafts that employ traditional techniques that face extinction due to inexpensively made copies, with a designated section for displaying these time-honored crafts.
In addition to the multi-cuisine Food Court, which offers a variety of ethnic cuisines from around the world, there are designated places for amusement, adventure sports, and joy rides, making this an event not to be missed.
The fair was upgraded to an international level in 2013 and in 2015, a record number of 20 countries participated, with Lebanon as the Partner Nation and Chhattisgarh as the Theme State.
At Surajkund in Faridabad, Haryana, each February sees a splash of color, a rhythm of drum beats, and a spirit of joy. In celebration of Indian folk traditions and cultural heritage, the curtain goes up for the acclaimed annual Surajkund International Crafts Mela on 1st February.
In an atmosphere designed to represent the ethos of rural India, the Mela celebrates the unique diversity of Indian traditions and culture. It showcases some of the finest handlooms and handicrafts from across India. Visitors are attracted to handmade fabrics soaked in ethnic colors.
The multi-cuisine Food Courts provide ethnic cuisines from all over the world, which are immensely popular with visitors. The two ‘Chaupals’ and the mesmerizing evening recitals at ‘Natyashala’ keep the entertainment up to date. In addition to amusement, adventure sports, and joy rides, this event is a must-see event for everyone.
As of 2013, the fair has been upgraded to an international level and renamed the ‘28th Surajkund International Crafts Mela’. A total of 15 countries from the European & African continents attended the Mela in 2014, including SAARC nations. Approximately 20 countries are expected to participate in the upcoming Surajkund International Crafts Mela.
In 2023, the 35th Surajkund Crafts Mela will be held between 3rd to 19th February, 2023
The ticket price ranges from INR 100/- to 200/- as per demand.
Surajkund International Crafts Fair tickets are available on all major online booking platforms and at the venue.
Surajkund fair 2023 starts daily from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm.
