Vigyanika, a Science Literature Festival, is going to be organized on 22 & 23 January 2023 in the Indian International Science Festival (IISF) at MANIT, Bhopal.
There will also be eminent personalities present, including Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Secretary, DSIR & Director General, CSIR, Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, President, Vijnana Bharati & Former Director General, CSIR, and Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director, CSIR-NIScPR.
Science and technology are celebrated and showcased at the India International Science Festival, which is in its 8th edition this year. It aims to engage the public in science by demonstrating how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) can improve lives. The Ministry of Earth Sciences, Ministry of Science & Technology, and Vijnana Bharati are organizing and coordinating the IISF this year.
Since its start in 2015, the Science Literature Festival hosted by IISF has gained recognition as a popular event. Aiming to achieve IISF's larger objective, Vigyanika will feature India's long-standing support of science and how it encourages scientific thinking amongst the people through the multilingual scientific literature, science poetry, dramatizations, and folk art. Moreover, it will initiate conversations on devising an effective path forward for imparting scientific knowledge.
To commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, Vigyanika began its own event – Amrit Kaal – to showcase the science and technology offerings of the country. It will include a keynote address, a special talk for the Science 20 (S20) initiative, six sessions featuring lectures, panels, interactions with authors, dramatized depiction of scientific ideas, and poetry reading. Additionally, a performance of Shakespeare’s The Life of Galileo by the Shadow Cultural & Social Welfare Society will be presented. Over 40 renowned scientists, communicators, authors, academics, and policymakers have been invited to participate in Vaigyanika.
Vaigyanika will be attended by about 300 science writers, communicators, artists, journalists, young and budding authors, researchers, college students, children, science enthusiasts, science policymakers, and citizens.
The theme of India @ 100 My Country, My Vision has been chosen for an on-the-spot painting and drawing competition for school children in Bhopal, along with online competitions such as Short Play Video Making and National Blog Writing. There will also be a Mentalism Show by Shri Harish Yadav, Magician & Science Communicator, Jaipur, Rajasthan, and a Science Kathputli Show by Shri Vikas Mishra & Team in Bhopal on 22 January 2023.
Vaigyanika is coordinated by CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), and Vijnana Bharati.
